July started with a scary fire across the street and ended with a mellow vacation in Gold Country visiting friends. In between was lots of swimming for Bradley and, oh, yeah, Bradley started walking...

The family was awakened at 3am on July 2 to the sound of the neighbors banging on our door alerting us to the fire across the street.

.

We learned a few things from this experience:

1. When the directions say, "Dispose of dirty rags in a well ventilated area," they mean it. The fire was caused by stain soaked rags self igniting in the garage.

2. Fritz is not as good of a watch dog as we thought as he didn't even bark when the neighbors were pounding on our front door.

3. Firemen are amazingly calm in the face of 100 foot flames.

We introduced Bradley to our (warm) hot-tub to try out his new pool float. After getting used to it, he was splashing away merrily until his feet turned to prunes.

A few days later, it was time for the real pool with other kids from Trish's moms group.

The regular pool water was a little too cool for Bradley and his trim little body, so after mom and dad tired of having him climb onto our shoulders every chance he got, we took him over to the ...

Did I mention that Bradley loves to splash?

Bradley's favorite toys are his colored rings.

Here, with rings in hand, he navigates through the barn . . .

Rings safely hidden, Bradley completes the exercise with a quick exit from the barn.

and slips them under his soft block.

Another of his favorite "toys" is this colorful dinner tray.

He likes to crawl on it,

sit on it,

and inspect it from all angles.

Hey Daddy, what's "Made in China" mean?

The best is when he combines the rings and the tray.

Bradley loves to hang out with next door neighbors Danny and Kyle. Here, the young rockers pose for their new album cover.

FROM CRUISING TO FIRST STEPS

Bradley started cruising around the corral and couches in June. Then one day in early July while mom and dad were watching the news, Bradley let go of the fence, and took two steps toward mom and dad. His first steps!

With a little help from mom, Bradley improved his balance

Soon he was steppin' out on his own as the proud (headless) papa offered a helping hand.

The happy Bradley and mom celebrate Bradley's new mobility.
